Upgrading Software
Software upgrades allow you to update the software running on theQ-Cloud保护appliance to the latest version. Software upgrades can include new features as well as bug fixes.
Upgrade Method
You can use one of the following methods for upgradingQ-Cloud保护software.
TheQ-Cloud保护appliance can automatically check for software upgrades on theHomepage, or you can manually check for an upgrade. If an upgrade is found, you can choose to download and install it. This is the recommended method for upgrading, but it requires that the cloud appliance be able to access the Internet. For information about configuring your network for the cloud appliance, seeVPC-Private Network Connections.
You can download a software upgrade file from theQuantum Service and Support Web site, and then manually upload it to theQ-Cloud保护appliance using theSoftware Upgradepage.
Use this method if the cloud appliance cannot access the Internet.

Software Upgrades
Software upgrades disable the followingQ-Cloud保护user accounts:
- GUI Monitor
- CLI Administrator
- CLI Viewer
- Service GUI
After the upgrade is complete, the GUI Administrator must enable these accounts and set passwords. SeeConfiguring Access Control.
TheSoftware Upgrade Utilityallows you to check for availableQ-Cloud保护software upgrades and, if available, download and install them. You can also configure theQ-Cloud保护appliance to automatically check for software upgrades.
To check for and download software upgrades, theQ-Cloud保护appliance must be able to access the Internet. If the cloud appliance cannot access the Internet, you can manually upload the software upgrade file to the cloud appliance. Tasks
Use theSoftware Upgrade Utilityto perform the following tasks:
- From theSystem Overviewsection of theHomepage, clickSoftware Upgradeto display theSoftware Upgrade Utilitywindow.
- Select theCheck daily for software upgradescheck box to enable automatic upgrade checking.
TheQ-Cloud保护appliance will automatically check for available software upgrades on a daily basis. If a software upgrade is found, you will be notified by an administrator alert as well as by a Quick Tip icon on theHomepage, next to the current software version.
- From theSystem Overviewsection of theHomepage, clickSoftware Upgradeto display theSoftware Upgrade Utilitywindow.
- ClickCheck Nowto check for a software upgrade.
If a software upgrade is available, you can read information about the contents of the upgrade and, if you choose, download and install it.

If a software upgrade is available, a summary describing the upgrade is displayed.
- ClickDownload.
- The bottom status bar displays download progress. It will take several minutes to download the upgrade, depending on network speeds. You can use the cloud appliance normally while the upgrade downloads.
- When the download is complete, a list of pre-upgrade actions displays . These are important actions you should take prior to installing the upgrade.
To ensure the system is healthy before upgrading, read and follow the instructions in each of the pre-upgrade actions, which can differ depending on the type of upgrade.
Typical pre-upgrade actions- Address and delete all outstanding administration alerts. SeeViewing Administration Alerts.
- Resolve and close all outstanding service tickets. SeeWorking With Service Tickets
- Stop all active backup jobs. Any backup jobs that are run during the upgrade will fail.
- Make sure all replication jobs are complete. If replication or synchronization jobs are nearly complete, Quantum recommends allowing them to complete before upgrading. SeeReplication Page.
- Make sure space reclamation is complete. If space reclamation is nearly complete, Quantum recommends allowing it to complete before upgrading. SeeManaging Space Reclamation.
- Download a system diagnostics file and transfer the file to a safe repository off the cloud appliance. The system diagnostics file can help in resolving problems if they occur. SeeWorking with System Diagnostics.
After completing all pre-upgrade actions, select theReady to installcheck box.
Note:TheReady to installcheck box and theInstallbutton are disabled if there are any outstanding administration alerts or service tickets.
ClickInstall.
- Read the onscreen information to learn what to expect during the upgrade. The bottom status bar displays installation progress, and a message displays if a reboot is required.
- Depending on the type of upgrade, the cloud appliance may be placed in service mode for about an hour. While in service mode, the system will shut down all backup and replication services. If necessary, the cloud appliance will restart one or more times to complete the upgrade.
Additional Information
If you decide not to install the software upgrade after downloading it, clickRemove Software Upgrade Fileto remove the current download file from the cloud appliance.
- Clear your Web browser cache before logging on to the virtual console for the first time following the software upgrade. This will ensure the remote management console displays correctly.
TheSoftware Upgradetab allows you to upload and install a software upgrade file on theQ-Cloud保护appliance. Use this upgrade method if the cloud appliance cannot access the Internet.
Prerequisite
Before you begin, download the software upgrade file on a computer connected to the Internet, and then copy the software upgrade file (.fw) to the computer you will use to access theQ-Cloud保护virtual console.
You can download the software upgrade file and release notes from the Quantum Service and Support Web site://www.zjhxrs.com/serviceandsupport/softwareanddocumentationdownloads/q-cloudprotect/index.aspx.
- From theUtilitiesmenu, selectSoftware Upgradeto display theUpload New System Software Upgrade Filepage.
- Click theBrowsebutton to locate the software upgrade file.
- Select the file and clickUpload.
ClickStartto begin the upload process.
Do not close the window until the uploading and unpacking process is complete. AnInformationmessage displays stating the software upgrade file was uploaded successfully.
ClickOK.
TheSoftware Upgradepage indicates that a software upgrade file has been uploaded.
ClickInstall.
Additional Information
- If necessary, click the link to delete any outstanding administration alerts before proceeding.
- If you decide not to install the software upgrade file after uploading it, clickRemoveon theUtilities > Software Upgradepage to remove the uploaded software upgrade file from the cloud appliance.
